Colorful LED sabers in cosmic backdrop for free LED Saber combat.

Experience the Thrill of LED Saber Combat in Charlotte

Have you ever envisioned yourself wielding a lightsaber, channeling your inner Jedi while engaging in thrilling combat? Now's your chance! Charlotte’s very own Queensguard is making it possible with free LED Saber Combat and Choreography sessions happening on July 20, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Independence Park, located at 300 Hawthorne Lane.

What to Expect: A Journey into Saber Combat

The Queensguard embraces newcomers and experienced fighters alike. Whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned Jedi, this event is perfect for you. Attendees will be greeted with an introduction to various forms of saber combat, melding physical activity with a fun, community spirit.

Your adventure will begin with a showcase of the core movements known as “forms.” Participants will focus initially on Form I, a foundational set of kata designed to build muscle memory and technique. There’s no pressure to duel right away; comfort and mastering your form come first. After two meetings, you’ll achieve Initiate status, and once you pass your trial match, you'll elevate to Padawan—an exciting step towards mastering more advanced forms.

    Who Can Join?

This session is open to adults aged 18 and older, but those aged 16-17 can participate with a parent or guardian. A liability waiver is required, and all equipment, including lightsabers, will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, fear not; the backup venue is the covered amphitheater at Freedom Park.

Building Community and Skills through Combat

What better way to blend fitness, fun, and community than through a shared interest in lightsaber combat? The Queensguard not only promotes physical fitness but also fosters a vibrant community among its members. Engaging in such an activity allows you to meet fellow enthusiasts, share tips, and develop camaraderie through shared experiences.

This event provides a unique opportunity for local families, students, and budget-conscious tourists alike to explore a new hobby free of charge while staying physically active.

Preparation: Making the Most of Your Experience

If you’re planning to attend, ensure you arrive early to secure your gear and possibly make new friends among fellow lightsaber enthusiasts. Follow the Queensguard on social media platforms like Facebook and Discord for updates, community tips, and schedules of future events. Their active presence allows for ongoing support even after the event concludes.
