From 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (or until supplies run out), residents can visit Matthews United Methodist Church at 801 S Trade Street to adopt two FREE native trees per household.

Planning Ahead: Registration Details and Requirements

To ensure you don’t miss out, pre-registration is open until October 19, 2025. Be aware that while registering can secure your chance to adopt trees, it does not guarantee you will receive them. Proof of residence is required at the site, and if you pre-register, make sure to arrive by 9:30 a.m. to claim your trees, as they will be available for first-come, first-served pick-up afterwards. Each tree also comes with a complimentary bag of mulch—perfect for planting!

Not only will you leave with beautiful new trees, but experts will also be available on-site to help you decide which species is best suited for your yard. Learning about planting and caring for your new trees is essential, and everyone receiving a tree will attend a brief class on proper care practices.
